The MJIF is dedicated to helping Jewish believers in Israel get through temporary emergency situations. Sometimes your check makes the difference between a family remaining in Israel, or having to leave due to financial hardships. Your check can make the difference in a pastor having materials and equipment to minister to the lost, or losing people because there is no one helping him to establish a much needed congregation. Your check now, no matter the amount, will enable many to get the medical help they would not get otherwise... and your support of God's people in Israel today will supply food, clothing and school supplies to families, and it will let them know they are not alone. Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is Messianic Judaism? Messianic Judaism is "Biblical" Judaism and is 2000 years old. It began when Yochanan (John) first proclaimed, “Repent, for the Kingdom of God is near” [Matthew 3:4]. It began when Yeshua (Jesus) said, “Turn from your sins to God...” [Matthew 4:17], and when He called His first talmidim (disciples) beginning in v.18. It began when He preached His first sermon; the "Good News" of the Kingdom, in v. 23. For a more complete definition, see "What is Messianic Judaism" on our About page. 2. What is a Messianic Synagogue? Messianic synagogues and congregations are made up of both Messianic Jews and Messianic Gentiles (non-Jewish believers who have “pitched their tents” in the camp of Israel), much like the “mixed-multitudes” who came out of Egypt with our people during the Exodus. Most Messianic synagogues have one or more Torah Scrolls (the five books of Moses), and adhere to the teachings of the Bible (Genesis through Revelation), written by Jewish men anointed by God. Messianic Jews that worship in a Messianic synagogue maintain their Jewish roots, heritage and culture, as did Yeshua and His talmidim (disciples). 3. Are Gentiles welcome? All are welcome to share the faith of Yeshua with us. He is the prophesied Messiah of Israel and of all mankind. Many of our Christian friends have a genuine "heart of Ruth" as found in Ruth 1:16. 4. How Many Messianic Jews and Messianic Synagogues are there? Polls show there are approximately 100,000 plus Messianic Jewish believers, and almost 500 Messianic synagogues worldwide — roughly 300 in the United States, 100 in Israel and almost 100 among all the other countries, particularly in the former Soviet Republics. 5. Are you Christians or Jews? We are Jews and non-Jews who follow biblical teachings, from Genesis to Revelation. Our faith is built on the foundation of the Jewish Holy Scriptures, not historical Church traditions or Jewish rabbinical conclusions or authorities. 6. Do you believe that God is the same today as in Biblical times? Yes. He is “the same yesterday, today and forever.” [Hebrews 13:8] 7. Do you keep the Sabbath? God designated sundown Friday to sundown Saturday as a Holy day in which to rest from our labors. He told the Jewish people tto observe Shabbat throughout our generations as a perpetual reminder that in six days He made the heavens and the earth, and on the seventh day He rested. [Lev. 23:3] 8. Do you believe in the Holy Spirit? The Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit) is evident throughout the scriptures, and we believe the scriptures are the inerrant Word of God. 9. Do you observe the Feasts of Israel? We celebrate the biblical holy feasts as a “memorial throughout your generations forever.” [Lev. 23] 10. How long has the MJIF been in operation? The short answer: 14 years. For a brief history of the MJIF, see "Beginnings..." on our About page. 11. How is information about donors and newsletter recipients used? We protect the privacy of all those who send donations or sign up for our newsletter. This information is not used for any other purpose nor shared with any other organization. 12. What percentage of donations are distributed as aid? Our records show that 80% of all funds taken in by the MJIF go directly and exclusively to aid Jewish believers and congregations in Israel. The remainder goes for MJIF overhead such as office supplies, printing, advertising. One congregation has committed to paying all travel expenses, and no salaries are paid to any MJIF workers. |
